Notes:

Strategies to Try

Random Talk buddies (could use dojo group manager, or randomiser- could keep the partners the same for the week)

  • Role play what “good talk buddies”

  • Promote a “no hands up” policy

Student to teacher feedback

  • Make sure it happens during the lesson, capitalise “golden moments”

  • Create the inclusive culture

  • Remember to include prior knowledge from previous lessons before starting lesson

  • Get feedback from students to adapt to where they are learning e.g don’t waste time teaching them what they already know.

  • At the end of the lesson give 2 questions at the end of the lesson “What could I have done differently to help you understand better? (Could use an exit card) Need to include more plenary questions (reflection at the end of the lesson.

  • Make sure students are focused on giving feedback based on the success criteria and not things unrelated to focus

  • Start with positives

  • Focus on giving feedback

  • Author chooses their favourite idea to change and take ownership of using their feedback.

  • With a buddy assess and give feedback using the SC

  • Students to select one piece of feedback to make changes to their own writing.

  • End of W1 Group students into 3 levels across the hub.

  • Collaborative doc for planning and each teacher to lead each of the levels

Week Two

  • Set expectations and model how to give positive and constructive feedback.

  • Create Visual Prompts - Speaking frames to suit each level

  • Implement collaborative plan

Discovering and using Canva tools to create online content

I have enjoyed discovering different digital tools to create online content for my students. Canva has been a fun content creator to make online presentations. The many templates that are readily available to edit are easy to use and look professional. This video I had to problem solve with using still images and video to put the lesson together. There are still some elements that I would like to improve on, however that all comes down to the way that I film the content and plan the video making. Something that I will continue to refine as I continue to explore this area of using digital tools.

Teacher only day 3rd September (via online conference) - Lead by Jacque Allen & Lori Mravivch Today we looked into online tools that could support us to explore different ways to deliver online learning. We collaborated in teaching teams to come up with ways to engage our students to increase agency with writing. As a team we decided to look into developing "bite sized" video clips to support students with their writing. With the current distance learning situation it is evident that students require tools to support them with their learning and so in creating bite sized clips, students would be able to watch and re-watch informative learning clips aimed at the level that they are learning at. Here is an example of a writing video clip that I developed for our target learners, as outlined in our collaborative team inquiry, after completing PD today. Continuing to develop Math bite sized clips

 I decided to continue to develop Math bite sized clips for Geometry transformations. Here is an example of how I have used various online tools to deliver online learning. The first video covered Reflection: Below the lesson is to teach about Rotational Geometry. I tried to incorporate real-life context as well to ensure that students are able to relate to the Mathematical ideas. I then linked it to an activity on seesaw for students to apply their learning by finding real-life transformation in their own homes: Here are some snippets of students work. Students also uploaded videos describing the transformations that they had found using the new mathematical vocabulary that they had learnt from watching the video lesson. I loved some of the responses that I had from my students. Hearing their learning helped me to review my video lessons and pick up on things that I could do better next time to make learning clearer for my learners.
